There have been a number of queries about Part-time registration. The Ignite Board of Directors has tried to answer the questions below.
Our first preference is for everyone to attend full-time for the duration of the Conference. This is to help everyone gain the maximum benefit from the Talks, Strands sessions and Afternoon workshops. In particular it’s the nature of all the Strands that each day builds upon the previous days’ material. Coming full-time respects this principle as well as strand group leaders and fellow strand group members.
Q – Can I come to just the Evening talks? (i.e working during the day)
A – We’re happy to open this possibility for workers who are unable to take leave but would like to come to the 4 night talks. However we would like to remind them that the first 40min of the drive back to Brisbane is on a very winding road and will be driven in the dark, late at night. NB. If you were to stay overnight (including dinners and breakfasts) the costs compared to full-time would only be reduced by around $25 as most of the cost is accommodation.
Q – Can I attend Part-time? (E.g. from Thursday – Saturday)
A – This option is only available for workers doing the Workers Strand. Again, we would much rather delegates come for the full duration of the conference. However we know not all workers are able to take 3 days leave so this option is available so workers can benefit from something rather than nothing.
NB. The Workers Strand is only open for people who have already completed Strands 1-3. However exceptions may be made at the discretion of Ignite leaders.
We would prefer these Part-timers to arrive by 9am (eg. on the Thursday) so they join in the whole day’s activities.
If the campsite was to fill to capacity, preference would have to be given to full-time delegates.
Q – Can I leave to attend another event during Ignite? (E.g The “Casting Crowns” concert on Australia Day)
A – We ask that everyone who attends Ignite stays for the entire duration of the conference as a lot of effort has been put into helping everyone get the most out of the 5 days. There are workshops each afternoon and an evening talk that would be missed if people left to attend another function. There is also the added safety risk of driving back to the campsite late at night. It’s always disappointing when two great events fall on the same date but we’d like to encourage BC3ers with the fact that sacrifices made for the sake of growing and serving others are always worthwhile.
